Teacher Edgar Yepez

Edgar Yepez is a Computer Science Engineer and the Founder and Artistic Director of Ballet Folklórico de Austin.

As a dedicated cultural promoter, he has devoted his career to preserving and promoting Mexican traditions throughout the United States. Since 2015, he has led the production of the Guelaguetza Oaxaqueña in Austin, bringing this celebrated cultural event to nationally and internationally recognized venues.

His contributions have earned him numerous honors, including being named "Tuxtepecano del Mundo" (Tuxtepec Citizen of the World) in 2024, receiving the Award of Excellence as an Arts Educator, and helping establish July 2 as the official Guelaguetza Day in Austin, Texas, solidifying his role as a leading advocate for Mexican folk arts and culture.
